Instrumental Classifications
Concert Bands and Jazz Ensembles
Based on the difficulty of music being performed. One of your two adjudicated compositions must meet the following specifications. Consult a state list for selections.
Junior High/Middle School .........Grades 6-9
Junior/Senior High School .........Grades 7-12
High School Class A....................Grade 3 Music
High School Class AA .................Grade 4 Music
High School Class AAA ............. Grade 5 or above Music
Full Orchestras and String Orchestras
Classification is based on the age level of the students enrolled in the ensemble. There are no music requirements.
Junior High/Middle School ..............Grades 6-9
Junior/Senior High School...............Grades 7-12
High School .......................................Grades 9-12
Total time on/off stage must not exceed 30 minutes.
There can be no more than a three (3) minute warm-up, which is optional.
Two adjudicated selections are not to exceed twenty (20) minutes.
If performing a multi-movement work, only two (2) movements may be performed as an adjudicated selection. A second adjudicated composition may be performed, if and only if, your entire program does not exceed 20 minutes of performance time.
There will be a twenty-five minute warm-up, in a separate room, preceding your performance. Please refer to the performance schedule.
