All performances take place in the Gymnasium.
Timing
Units may approach the performance area and set-up at any point either on or off the competitive floor. After staging, the Captain of the unit will wait for a signal from the festival official before starting the performance. Once the unit is announced and the festival official has acknowledged the Captain, the performance may begin. Time starts with the first motion of any member of the unit not including the Captain’s salute (which is not mandatory). The minimum time limit is three and one half (3 ½) minutes and the maximum time limit is six (6) minutes. All personnel and equipment must be clear of the contest floor by this time limit. All judging will cease at the obvious conclusion of the performance, or at the maximum time limit, whichever comes first.
Entrance and Exit
A unit may enter the contest floor over any line except the front side line and may start it’s program anywhere within the competition area or contest floor.
All competitive members must be on the contest floor within thirty (30) seconds after the start of judging.
Exit may be over any line except the front side line.
All personnel and equipment must be out of the contest area at the conclusion of six (6) minutes. (Interpretation: If other than competing personnel are removing props or excess equipment, they may begin to do so as the unit is leaving the contest floor and competition area.)
Equipment
Festivals of Music does not provide any equipment for these performances. The director is responsible for bringing all necessary instruments and equipment.
Any damage to the gym floor is the responsibility of the performing unit.
Clinics are not provided for Marching Percussion performances.
