Parade Band Guidelines

Classification

Parade Bands will be classified according to the number of musicians in the band, including percussion. The number of band front/color guard members should not be included in this total.

Junior High/Middle School...........No enrollment requirements
Class A High School ...........................49 or less musicians
Class AA High School .............................50 to 84 musicians
Class AAA High School .................................85 or more musicians

High School Bands are permitted to move from their class to a class with a higher enrollment, but never to a class with lower enrollment. If participant numbers drop drastically, bands may move to a lower class up to three weeks before the event. After the three week deadline, no changes can be made.

Clinics are not provided for parade bands. Most parade performances are a “pass and review” in the parking lot or around the track at the school. Please contact your festival director for specific details regarding this event.

Scoring System

It is the position of FESTIVALS OF MUSIC that music is the most important aspect of the performance, with marching as the presentation and visual enhancement of the program.
