MITP vs. FOM
WHAT ARE THE DIFFERENCES BETWEEN FESTIVALS OF MUSIC AND MUSIC IN THE PARKS?

- Always a Multi-Day event
- At select locations, groups may be asked to perform proir to the Awards Ceremony
- 30 minute performance for a panel of three judges (30 minutes includes setup and performance)
- Performance take place in performing arts centers, college or high school auditoriums, churches or convention centers
- Cassette tapes for the adjudicators are supplied by Festivals of Music
- Each group receives taped and written comments
- Each group receives a trophy
- Ensembles may enter as either a competitive or non-competitive group (rating only)
- All Concert Ensembles have an option to add a clinic following their performance
- Total choral performance time cannot exceed 6 ensembles in 2 hours
- No limit on number of performing groups
- No application fee
- Drill team and colorguard competitive divisions
- Leadership Sessions with Dr. Tim Lautzenheiser at select locations

- Can be a 1-day or 2-day event.
- 1-Day Event Schedule: performances, park admission and awards take place the same day.
- 2-Day Event Schedule: concert performances Friday evening; parade performances,
park admisison and awards on Saturday.
- 25 minute performance for a panel of two judges - Instrumental Ensembles
(25 minutes includes setup and performance)
- 20 minute performance for a panel of two judges - Choral Ensembles
(20 minutes includes setup and performance)
- Performance takes place in school auditoriums, multipurpose rooms, gymnasiumsm churches and
cafeterias near the park
- Each group receives taped and written comments
- Each group receives a trophy
- Ensembles may enter as either a competitive or non-competitive group (rating only)
- Limit of 3 instrumental, 3 vocal ensembles and one parade group per school
- No application fee
- Music in the Parks does not provide auxiliary competitions
- Music In The Parks does not offer clinics for performing ensembles
